A Playground for our Kids

We want to buy land/plot for a playground for our 244 children. Currently our Hopsyg kids are squashed into a tiny playground area of 6 meters x 6 meters (which is also used as a school assembly area). This new plot we have identified is 27 meters x 7 meters. See our current school and playground area in this walking tour video

The piece of land we have identified is directly beside/connected with the land we just bought for our secondary school, see this short video to see the location of this plot. This piece of land is very cheap right now so we want to buy it as soon as possible.

See this video to get some background information on our school or check our website here. See our Youtube channel for more videos. Any question please email Alan (co-founder) on [email protected]

Background Information:

We have grown steadily from a tin shack Kindergarten in 2008 (32 children), to buying land and building a concrete structure in 2009 (45 children) then building a junior primary school in 2013 (144 children). In 2016 we constructed our senior primary school (244 children) and we now have 13 classrooms and 11 teachers. In July 2018 to facilitate our plans to build a secondary school, we bought two plots of land (and completed urgent renovations on our school). These are the poorest children in Kenya and we believe they deserve even better. We now plan to build a secondary school and playground to help them escape the poverty cycle and reduce the poverty and suffering in Mombasa.

Our Volunteers & Fundraising:

Between 2015 and 2018 a fantastic team of volunteers/friends in Shanghai raised enough to build our senior primary school, buy the land/plots for our secondary school and renovate our primary school.  See our hard work on this video. The same land owner has offered us an additional piece of land where we could build a good playground. But now our focus is on building a secondary school for our kids who have completed our primary school.

Our Secondary School Dream:

The potential donor(s) for building this secondary school could: have input on the design the school, dedicate/name a classroom/block after a loved one, have a plaque errected on the grounds. Depending on the quality, the construction could cost between $30,000 and $70,000.

Our original plan was to fundraise for the construction costs of our secondary school but this amazing opportunity for a plot of land for our playground has come-up and we want to focus on this for now.
